What's the best way to hunt for writs?

Is there a faster way than hunting golems for diamond powder?
If not, do I need to just hunt diamond golems, or do any others drop the powder?

And of course, where's the best place to go to find the critters?

Thanks for any advice.

I've always found bunchs of diamond golems on the flows on Aerlinthe. Diamond golems and diamond lords are the only creatures, I believe, that drop diamond powders; however, there are several other ways of getting writs.

Handing in a nefane pearl to an agent of the arcanum is worth 2 writs, but the pearl are rare drops and Caul is a lot more dangerous than Aerlinthe.

I think the regular Niffis pearl is worth one writ, but can't remember for sure.

Finishing different parts of the Propylaeum quests will get you writs when you hand in the letters.

There is a Writ of Refuge Quest that is a once-per-character quest (limited to level 20 and above). The quest dungeon is near Lytlethorpe, it's very easy to complete, and you can run through the quest with different characters very quickly.

There is a whole list of other items the agents of the arcanum will also give writs for but I don't remember any of the other ones right now.

Good luck. :)

Have you tried Knorr?

Acidic diamond golems drop powder too; theres a fairly fast spawn of them in Knorr. Let me know if it works out.

The Propylaeum dungeons of the Helm Of Elements quest give you 6 writs in total, but ONLY the first time you turn in one dungeon's Prism.
After that, each time you turn in another Prism of that dungoen you still get its Craftable Prim and the XP, but no writ anymore.....

Pyreal Ingots can be turned in for writs too, they do not need to be of high quality.
The higher the golems are, the more Motes they drop. Platinum Golems and Diamond Lords even drop Slivers.....

Motes combined into a bar will get a writ also.

I think that would be the fastest way to get them, since he usually has a truckload. Of course, I don't know if you have to kill him to get them or can just ask him for some writs.
